What is Sorghum U?
Sorghum U is farmer-focused educational series sponsored by the Sorghum Checkoff, Sorghum Partners LLC, High Plains Journal and other regional sponsored that gives producers in Kansas, Texas, Nebraska and South Dakota an opportunity to explore the profitability potential and water management qualities of grain sorghum.
During Sorghum U, industry insiders present information on topics ranging from sorghum marketing opportunities, basic and advanced agronomics, irrigation management, and other farm-level practices that will help increase producer profitability. Water management has become an important issue across the High Plains, and sorghum has the ability to produce more crop per drop.
The program encourages informal discussions between industry insiders and both experienced and new growers alike.
Sorghum U events in 2013 have taken place in Dodge City, Kan., Lubbock, Texas, Kearney, Neb., and Oacoma, S.D*.
*The event in South Dakota was cancelled due to inclement weather, but presentations and materials can still be accessed on this site.
